The name also appeared
in my 2016 poem
I Will Live in The Disappear
giving the band it's
subtitle "The Unfound Profound." I like the name The New Sound of
Silence for many reasons, the contradictory nature of it, the idea of
newness being added to something that seems empty, "New" being in the
title after having my 1st band named simple "New," that it is close to
the song name the "Sound of Silence" which is good for search terms
& the fact that my EP already has top search results for the name.
I've also liked the name of the band The New Sound of Numbers. I may be
uploading the back catalog to streaming services under this
new name.
It is also nod to embracing AI in composition. Using AI at times in the past, in it's infantcy in 2004's
The
Darkened Reality
of Real-Estate, to allowing it to be added to my toolbox from 2007's
Yestermorrow
onward. From the joy of experimentation to the lack of free time it is
a fun tool to embrace, as it has been with visual art AI, though I'
still doing a lot of instrument arrangement & production as I
always have. I am the one who spurs the machines & finds the beauty
they give me & nutures it. And since I've come through 20 years
with no fans but myself I'm gonna enjoy the most relaxing parts of the
creative process & eat the fruit I grow with the fertilizers of the
future.
